Children’s Ministry
Our model for the Children’s Ministry is based on these two scriptures:
“And anyone who welcomes a little child like this on my behalf is welcoming me.” – Matthew 18:5
“In the same way, it is not my heavenly Father’s will that even one of these little ones should perish” – Matthew 18:14
At First Baptist Church Salinas, we are humbled to obey our Lord’s calling for “not one child should perish”
We believe that children are not just the next generation but todays generation! Here at FBC we provide a safe, loving, fun place where your child will be a disciple and have the best opportunity to grow deeper in Christ. We do this through prayer, singing worship songs, Bible study, arts & crafts and reinforcing God’s Word through memory verses. We desire to teach your child how to apply what they learn to everyday life. As we help them grow in Christ spiritually, we get excited about how the Holy Spirit will transform their hearts to love Jesus and serve him fully. We recognize we can only do this by partnering with you. We believe in the Body of Christ doing this together. Raising our children to know, love, and serve our Lord is the best gift we can give back to Christ. All our volunteers are background checked, experienced, and have such a heart for children
Below, you’l see the programs we provided for your child from nursery-6th grade.
Nursery (birth to 23 months) Room 1
Our trained, dedicated volunteers love nourishing, cuddling, and loving your precious little ones. We believe that even at this young age, we can build a strong foundation of God’s Word with music, love and prayer.
Wigglers (2-3 years) Room 11
Our staff employee, Marie Marbach, is a full-time nurse, mom of three teenage sons, and wife to her husband, Will Marbach. Marie works on Sunday mornings and is dedicated to helping toddlers grasp God’s Word through music, illustrations and visual aids. She strives to provide age-appropriate activities to engage these young ones and begin to reach them with God’s love. We are currently using the “Heartshapers” curriculum.

Pre-school/1st Grade (Pre-school – 1st Grade) Room 6
We have rotations of experienced volunteers for this age group who either have a child in a program, are teens or are now in college.

We use the curriculum: “Simply Loved”.
It’s an excellent curriculum that helps kids love God and others. The curriculum engages children through music, sing-and-play, Bible discovery, and applying God’s truth to their everyday lives. In addition, the children love watching a video of a Bible memory buddy to help t hem understand God’s world and creation.
Kidzone Elementary (2nd-6th Grade)

The SIMPLY LOVED curriculum is also applied to this age group. Children meet as a group to Worship through hand-motion and fun. Large group Bible study is taught to help kids get deeper into into God’s Word. In addition, understand their purpose in “the Big God Story”. Reminding children God is not done and wants to use them in history. We desire to allow the Holy Spirit to do its work, and children will come to their own decision with their parents’ help and accept Jesus as their personal Savior.

The AWANA Program has been established at First Baptist Church Salinas since 2013. We have volunteers who believe in what this program provides. It’s a worldwide program focused on Bible-based evangelism and discipleship solutions. Kids can get the Word of God in their hearts through memory versus, work as a team, in-game time, and gain a deeper understanding of the biblical stories. The children take pride in wearing their uniforms and earning badges, emblems, or jewels as the progress along with their handbooks. We love watching children’s laughter as they participate in all three segments. Helping them become spiritual mindsets, we believe we will empower them to become the role models, disciples and people God intends them to be. We’re excited to join them on this journey.
Gems Girls Club: A Place For Your Girl Ages 6-18

Gems Curriculum was established over 60 years ago. We hope to equip young girls to embrace how God made them and deal with today’s culture’s problems, the pressure of what the world identifies as beautiful, and how they may see themselves as unfavorable. They are reminded of their identity, accepted, beautiful, chosen, delighted, etc. The theme this year is “Friended.” They will learn how God is a friend to them, how to recognize true friends, and how they are being friends. Bible study, games, and baking add to this fantastic club.
Boy’s Club Book Club: Boys Club/Book Club ages 6-12
(Every other Tuesday, 6:00 pm – 7:30 pm check calendar for dates)
We are going through the series “Patrick Wigglesworth Bizarre Bible Adventure’. Here, boys are learning how to love the Bible, build connections, mentor one another, and not be ashamed of making wise decisions if it doesn’t follow the norm. Here, they take turns reading while enjoying the adventure of Patrick and how to apply God’s truth in their everyday lives. Enjoying pizza, baking, riding scooters, rollerblading, and riding bikes is always fun in this club.
